The Whole Story

So on Thursday we were just laying around and winding down for bedtime when all of a sudden Michaela starting screaming and holding her head. She was saying that something popped in her head and it was obviously very painful. Her tongue immediately went numb as well. I didn't know whether to call an ambulance or rush her there myself. I called my parents who live nearby. They rushed over so my dad could stay with the other two. Ben was at work. My mom and I rushed her to the ER. They did a CT scan on her and found 3 abnormalities. We were sent home and told to follow up with our family doc the next day. Our family doc, a close friend, was on top of the situation!! Our insurance would not approve a much needed MRI at first. After (Michaela had to come home from school yesterday due to a similar pain) we headed to the doctors office to get this "documented" for our insurance. They tried to run it again and it went thru this time. So we went to have an MRI on her upper neck today. They called our doc immediately with the results:

She is diagnosed with Klippel-Feil Syndrome. Her C2 & 3 are fused together, between 3 & 4 she has a bulging disk. We will be going to University of Michigan Pediactric Neuro Surgeon asap. They will hopefully call me tomorrow with an appointment time.

The MRI also revealed that her left sinus cavity is filled again with cyst(s). Her doc thinks that we will be facing surgery again on that. We have an appointment on Nov. 15th with that surgeon.

Michaela said tonight that she isn't nervous. She knows that the Lord helped her through the last surgery! The hardest thing right now is her not being able to be active. Brooklyn is always wanting to wrestle and play rough -so that makes it tough to keep her off of Mic.

I will keep everyone posted as we hear things. Just pray!

We'll keep you all in our prayers and I'll mention it at Church tomorrow night so that our Church family here can be praying as well.

Praying!! So glad you have such a great family doc to take care of her, and, even more importantly, a great God to take care of her!!
